Silane/Siloxane concrete sealers are a blended water repellent sealer made up of a formulation of silane and siloxane. When used separately as just a silane or just a siloxane sealing results are not stellar. However, when blended together they are a power team causing water to bead off the surface with long lasting results.
Silane/Siloxanes are penetrating, impregnating concrete sealers that bond to the pores of concrete, brick or masonry keeping water from entering the surface. Instead the water sits on top of the substrate and beads right off. Not only do silane/siloxanes repel water but they also help prevent mold, mildew, efflorescence, and freeze-thaw damage and are 100% breathable. Even though they are sold as a milky white liquid they dry clear and leave a virtually unaltered surface appearance. One of the best features of a silane/siloxane is their ability to protect brick, masonry, stone, concrete blocks, pavers, stucco, tile, sandstone and slate.
Ghostshield offers Siloxa-Tek 8500, Siloxa-Tek 8505 and Siloxa-Tek 8510. The Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek products works better and last much longer than conventional sealers because they contains a unique blend of compounds that chemically react below the surface of the substrate. This reaction forms an insoluble, water-repellent barrier within the surface that cannot wear away, fade, yellow, crack or peel. They all resist freeze-thaw damage and deicing salts. All the Siloxa-Tek's are 40% solids with the 8505 and 8510 offering staining protection. The Siloxa-Tek 8500 and 8505 are water based while the 8510 is solvent based.
