Stucco is another porous concrete material, much like brick. It is more delicate than the traditional concrete that we tend to associate with the word concrete: those bland, strong gray facades that make up our basement floors and walls, among other aspects of homes, buildings, bridges, and the like. However, it is nonetheless similar to concrete, enough so that the same basic types of concrete sealers are used.
Fortunately, there is a wide variety of concrete sealers from which to choose. Silane/siloxane sealers, which are also the best sealer to be used for brick applications, are the best choice for stucco as well. The silane/siloxane sealer uses particles of silane and particles of siloxane to both penetrate within the stucco and to bond to the surface. This dual action creates a hydrophobic barrier that will protect the stucco from water, salts, and other environmental threats to the stuccos visual appeal and structural integrity. The best silane/siloxane offering on the market is the Siloxa-Tek 8500. Siloxa-Tek 8500 is the most advanced, high performance, industrial strength water based concrete/masonry water repellent solution ever formulated designed to stop water and moisture intrusion. Unlike other silane/siloxanes on the market that are less than 10% solids, Siloxa-Tek 8500 is a 40% solids solution. Putting a permanent end to water and moisture migration, Siloxa-Tek 8500 is guaranteed to outperform, outlive and outlast any other stucco sealer.
