The Longest Lasting Wet Look

The highest performing decorative sealer in the Cryli-Tek line - but it goes much deeper than that. The methyl methylate resins used in this formula have been independently tested and are more durable and last longer than other acrylic sealers on the market. Protects and enhances the look of exterior surfaces for up to 3 years and interior surfaces for up to 7 years. Treated substrates resist staining, surface deterioration and hot tire pickup while eliminating concrete dusting.

Seals Concrete & Pavers

Easily applied with a solvent-rated roller or brush, the 5505 can be used on a variety of new and old, indoor and outdoor concrete, brick and masonry applications. Can be used on concrete previously treated with a solvent based acrylic without needing to remove it.

  • Concrete / Stamped Concrete
  • Pavers / Exposed Aggregate
  • Stone / Slate
  • Patios / Pool Decks
  • Driveways / Walkways

    • Superior chemical resistance compared to standard acrylic or styrene acrylic sealers.
  • Surface Preparation

    1. New “green” concrete must be properly cured. Concrete should obtain 80% of design strength, typically achieved within 14-28 days.
    2. The concrete substrate must be structurally sound and clean of oil, grease, dirt, wax, curing compounds, efflorescence, paints, previous sealers, adhesives and other contaminants that might interfere with the penetration of the sealer. Power wash, acid etch or mechanically scarify as necessary to achieve the desired surface condition. If acid was used to clean the concrete, neutralize the surface and rinse with water prior to application. Allow for proper dry time before application. The surface-zone moisture content of the concrete should not exceed 4% wt. Do not apply if standing water is visible.
    3. Surface and air temperatures must be at least 40°F during application. Surface and air temperatures should not exceed 90°F. Do not apply when temperatures are expected to fall below 32°F within 8 hours or when rain is expected within 12 hours following application. Keep material from freezing. If freezing conditions exist before application, let the substrate thaw before application. Do not apply during inclement weather or when inclement weather is expected within 12 hours.
    4. Joints to receive joint sealant should be masked or taped off prior to applying.
    5. Protect people, property, vehicles, window glass, roofing materials, plastic products, shrubbery, landscaping and all surfaces not set for treatment from overspray.

    Application

    1. Always test a small area before application to ensure desired performance, aesthetics, coverage rates and to verify application technique. Let test area dry thoroughly, 5-7 days, before inspection. Product should be conditioned to a minimum of 50 degrees F prior to application. Avoid windy days and direct sunlight.
    2. One continuous, thin, uniform coat is needed to ensure complete coverage. Apply a with a sprayer, good quality roller or brush. Too thick of an application will result in entrapment and subsequent product failure. If it starts to rain, stop treatment and cover the treated areas. Spray Apply with a low pressure, solvent resistant, airless, sprayer equipped with a fan nozzle orifice of 0.030 to 0.035” at 1 gpm. The optimum spray pattern is an 8” to 12” fan. Hold sprayer tip 8” to 12” from the surface of the concrete. Apply uniformly leaving no pin-holes or gaps. Do not allow the material to puddle. Roller Apply: Use a short nap (1/4” max) solvent resistant roller. Apply a continuous film leaving no pinholes or gaps. Do not allow material to puddle. Do not apply in excess of 350 square feet per gallon per coat.
    3. Unsealed concrete may require optional second coat. If an additional coat is desired wait at least 1 hour and ensure the first coat has completely dried before applying a second coat. Press on the coating with your thumb to verify that no fingerprint impression is left. If no impression is created, then the recoat can be started. Always remember that colder temperatures will require more cure time for the product before recoating can commence. We do not recommend any coatings be placed over this product except multiple coats of this product itself.

    Dry Time

Typical drying time is 4-6 hours at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Cooler temperatures or higher relative humidity can extend the drying time. Treated surfaces will be ready for pedestrian and vehicle traffic within 24 hours.

    Clean Up

Clean equipment and tools with xylene or toulene. Unused or old material may be disposed of in a waste disposal site in accordance with local, state and federal laws.

    Precautions/Safety

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing, do not take internally. Use appropriate safety equipment during application and handling. Please refer to the safety data sheet (SDS) for additional precautionary instructions before use.

    Best Performance

    • Proper application is the responsibility of the user.
    • Make sure the most current versions of technical data sheets and safety data sheets are being used.
    • Do not use in immersion service or constant chemical exposure areas.
    • Do not apply to joints or channels scheduled to receive elastomeric caulks or to surfaces scheduled to receive concrete overlays, toppings, or thin set mortars.
    • Extremely porous substrates such as pavers may require additional coats to achieve a slight enhancement.

    Coverage

1 coat: 100 - 300 square feet per gallon. Variations in texture and porosity of substrate will affect the coverage and performance of the product.

  • Does the concrete need to be dry before sealing? Yes, the concrete needs to be as dry as possible before sealing. We recommend the moisture content of the concrete be less than 4%wt. It is recommended to wait at least 24-48 hours after rain and pressure washing before sealing.

What can I use to apply this product? Spray Apply with a low pressure, solvent resistant, airless, sprayer equipped with a fan nozzle orifice of 0.030 to 0.035” at 1 gpm. The optimum spray pat-tern is an 8” to 12” fan. Hold sprayer tip 8” to 12” from the surface of the concrete. Apply uniformly leaving no pin-holes or gaps. Do not allow the material to puddle. Roller Apply: Use a short nap (1/4” max) solvent resistant roller.

What is the difference between the Cryli-Tek 5505 and the Cryli-Tek 5500?

The Cryli-Tek 5505 is a solvent based acrylic that will leave a high gloss, wet look finish. The Cryli-Tek 5500 is a water based acrylic that will leave a matte/satin finish.

Can I reapply another coat of the Cryli-Tek 5505 on top of the Cryli-Tek 5505 in few years?

Yes, if the concrete has lost its high gloss, wet look finish you can apply another coat of the Cryli-Tek 5505 without having to remove the previous coat. Since the Cryli-Tek 5505 is a solvent based product another solvent based acrylic can be used on top of it.
